AMETEK SCP Adds Polyethylene Molding Capability

WESTERLY, RI, —AMETEK SCP, a world leader in underwater cable and connector solutions for military and commercial applications, has added polyethylene (PE) molding capability to its factory capabilities.

Polyethylene has long been recognized as a preferred material for subsea cables and terminators due to its low-moisture absorption properties, long life and high reliability. AMETEK SCP now has the capability to custom mold polyethylene subsea cable splices, breakouts and connector terminations, both at the factory and for in-the-field terminations. In addition to the new mold equipment, AMETEK SCP has developed a Navy-approved process that effectively molds polyurethane to a polyethylene jacketed cable.
